English: Pacific Ocean (Jan. 19 2005) - Sailors assigned to the Weapons Department aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), move a palette of BLU-109 2000 pound general purpose bombs into a magazine. The Mk-84 is a multi-purpose bomb designed to provide blast and fragmentation effects and can be configured with several different guidance systems to customize the weapon to mission requirements. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
